Walk or Wheel to School Week
13 Oct 2025

This week our Local District Council is promoting safe travel to school.

With this in mind we have organised 4 days of fun activities that will encourage our children to be safe while trying different ways of coming to school.

Tuesday 14 (tomorrow) - is being renamed Tidy Up Tuesday  - asking children and whanau to actively support our environment by picking up litter on their way to school.

Wednesday 15 - Now Move It Wednesday  - On Wednesday children need to use their imagination and create a fun way or interesting dance to perform as they enter the school grounds, (Mr Jenkins will be checking the cameras looking for the most interesting and imaginative performance).

Thursday 16 - Travel Together Thursday -  At three points around our community,

1.  Intersection of Keyte Street & Jack Street

2.  Walker Crescent just by the underpass

3.  Outside Whangarei Gymnastics in Park Avenue.

Teachers will be waiting from 7.50am (10 to 8) till 8.05am (5 past eight)

Those children that wish to walk to school with the teachers may do so.  So parents if you wish to drop off your tamariki at these points, at these times we will be operating a walking bus to school.  A safe and fun way to start the day.

Friday 17 - Wheels Day and Whanau Group Colour Day - Bring your wheels to school for a fun day but also if you wear your whanau colours on the day you will get points for your whanau group.
